Mid-September Staff Spotlight: Kiara Nelson

After seven years with Milwaukee Recreation, Kiara Nelson has become the heart of the department’s therapeutic recreation program, providing individuals with disabilities with an enriching space for engaging programming throughout the year. She has built something truly special for the community and has created unforgettable memories for participants in the Club Rec. and Super Saturday programs, including summer days at the wading pool, visits from Santa, and adventures to MKE Urban Stables.

What do you enjoy most about your job/or Milwaukee Recreation: "There is nothing quite like watching our participants build bonds that last a lifetime. My absolute favorite part of TR is welcoming them in every single day—their energy is unmatched, and they are always genuinely thrilled to see everyone and jump into the day's activities!"

Favorite memory with Milwaukee Recreation: "Some other favorite memories are going to the wading pool during summer at Clement Avenue Club Rec., Santa coming to visit at Manitoba Super Saturday, and taking both groups to MKE Urban Stables to interact with the animals."
