Adaptations refer to changes in color, size, shape and behavior. These changes help living things find food and protect themselves.

Expose your students to the idea of their backyards as a habitat for nature! Even your schoolyard can provide what is necessary for animals to raise a family. Through a PowerPoint presentation, puppets and discussion, we can help students recognize the mammals that might be sharing their neighborhoods, learn the various animals that lay eggs and even help determine when an animal might need help.

Our Naturalists will present a short presentation and lead a game to help your students recognize characteristics of mammals, including bats. We will also experiment with echolocation to enhance learning and understanding of these beneficial mammals.

Let us bring the excitement of paleontology and fossils to your classroom. A PowerPoint presentation will introduce the geological time table and the past and present of fossils. Real examples will allow your students to examine the 3 types of fossils, including Wisconsin’s state fossil.

Pollinators are responsible for assisting over 80 percent of the world’s flowering plants, including over 150 food crops in the United States, yet pollinator populations are declining. We will present your students the opportunity to observe, compare, infer and apply knowledge of bees, butterflies, birds and even some mammals.

Our sun is a powerful star. Your students will make sun prints, explore light using a prism and experiment with shadows and light to further understand Earth’s rotation.

Metamorphosis is a series of changes some animals must undergo to become adults. A tadpole turning into a frog or a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly might seem more like magic than science until we offer engaging, hands on activities to help understand this concept.
