(For Grades 2 -
8)
This program was designed to introduce students
to the varied habitats within this urban park (which can
also be found throughout Wisconsin). A naturalist will guide
students on a hike through diverse habitats including a
marsh, river, pond, deciduous forest, and a coniferous forest.
Students will discover what makes each habitat unique and
which plants and animals thrive in the different environments.
Life cycles will be explored and the web of life will be
examined. The students will be able to conduct a pond study.
Terms such as habitat, ecosystem,
coniferous, deciduous, and decomposer
will be discussed. The naturalists are prepared to focus
learning experiences on material related to current classroom
curriculum.

Programs may be scheduled for 4 hours or less,
between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m
Facilities are available for bag lunches or
you may bring food supplies for a cookout. There is play
equipment available if time permits. Adequate shelter is
NOT available during inclement weather as this program is
based on a hike through the different habitats of the park.
Summer Programs are also available June 27th through August 5th, 2011.
