POLICY & WEEKEND CANCELLATIONS

School Day Cancellations:
If weather conditions cause Milwaukee Public Schools to close
or dismiss early, recreation programs will be cancelled.
If the weekend weather is questionable:
a) listen to Radio Stations WTMJ AM 620, WMCS 1290 AM;
or
b) watch TV-Channel 6.
These stations have been designated to cover cancellation
information of our Saturday and Sunday Recreation activities,
leagues and interscholastic events.
Special Note: Adult
Sports
Indoor Sports:
In the event of severe weather conditions, officials and team
managers are urged to listen closely to the radio/TV stations
listed above. Announcements may not specifically mention the
Adult Sports Program, but may state “Activities of the
Milwaukee Recreation Department have been cancelled”
or something to that effect.
Outdoor Sports:
In the event of inclement weather, call the Weather Hotline
at 414-475-8192 after 4:00 p.m. or fieldhouse
phone numbers (
PDF) after 5:00 p.m. for field conditions.
If in doubt, officials should report and managers are urged
to have at least the minimum number of players appear to avoid
the possibility of a forfeit. Managers should pass this information
on to their players.
