Carmelo Cortes receives Recognition Award for community service

Carmelo Cortes, an Assistant Supervisor for Milwaukee Recreation, has received the Milwaukee Latino Forum's 2008 Recognition Award for his dedicated service to the city's Latino community. Cortes has worked for Milwaukee Recreation since 1981, and he has served as director of the South Division Community Center for the past ten years. The Latino Forum holds regular community outreach events at South Division, and Cortes helps to schedule the organization's meetings, information fairs, and activities for children with special needs.

"We have always known that Carmelo does an outstanding job as he works to enrich the lives of Milwaukee's residents, and it's great to see that other organizations also appreciate his efforts," says Bob Gavronski, Cortes' supervisor. "Hey, we should write a news release about this!"
