Families invited on July 26 trip to Oak Ridge Farm
Milwaukee Recreation is inviting families to sign up for a day trip to Oak Ridge Farm near Dousman, Wisconsin on Saturday, July 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The outing is designed for children ages 6 & up (and their parents/guardians) who would enjoy seeing large farm animals, moving machinery, and a barn with a dairy herd. The trip will focus on Oak Ridge Farm’s dairy operations to show children that milk originates somewhere other than the neighborhood grocery store. The per-person registration fee is $7 for city of Milwaukee residents and $14 for non-residents. The fee includes round-trip school bus transportation from parking lots at Marshall and Pulaski high schools. For more information, call (414) 647-6050 or click here to register online. Space is limited, so the public is encouraged to register early. During the trip, participants will enjoy a hayride and make farm-fresh ice cream. Families should bring their own picnic lunches and beverages. The farm staff will start a campfire for participants to cook their own hot dogs and sausages.
“The day trip on Saturday, July 26 will be a perfect way for families to spend time together while getting some fresh air in the great outdoors,” says Assistant Recreation Supervisor Kevin Reed. “With a quack quack here and a moo moo there, you E-I-E-I owe it to yourself to sign up!”
