U.S. Junior Olympic Skills Competition set for May 13
Milwaukee Recreation will host the city's 3rd Annual U.S. Junior Olympic Skills Competition at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at South Division Community Center, 1515 W. Lapham Boulevard. The competition is free for boys and girls who are between the ages of 8 and 13 as of August 31, 2008. Participants may register on-site beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The competition will allow children to showcase their athletic abilities while competing in basketball, soccer, tennis, and track. Winners will advance to sectional finals for the chance to compete at the national level.
"Milwaukee Recreation is pleased to host the U.S. Junior Olympic Skills Competition in our city," says Recreation Supervisor Jim Janicki. "It's exciting to be part of something that promotes athletic activity and good sportsmanship."
