Friday, October 12, and Saturday, October 13, 2012:
Our 19th Annual Event!!!
Milwaukee Recreation’s “natural alternative” to the usual haunted houses is returning for another year. Family Fun at Halloween Glen encourages youth to learn about nature through a fun and interactive program in the outdoor setting of Hawthorn Glen, Milwaukee Recreation’s 23-acre nature center at 1130 N. 60th St. The program, now in its 19th year, will run every half hour beginning at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 (rain or shine).
“Families that attend Halloween Glen should expect a fun outdoor experience with an educational twist,” says Assistant Recreation Supervisor Kevin Reed. “We’ve hired actors to dress up as wild creatures, but they won’t be scaring anyone. Instead, this talented group will present interactive skits at eight elaborately decorated stations along the luminary-lighted trails of Hawthorn Glen at night. Meet the super "stars" that make your constellation sensations. Join a high energy animal dance work out and find out what's cooking with nature's chefs. This year, we'll be celebrating Milwaukee Recreation's 100th Anniversary.
The program will run every half hour beginning at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 (rain or shine). Please call 647-6050 with further questions.
After your journey, you can watch
some Halloween cartoons on the big screen or make a craft to take home. Refreshments, including pretzel bones,
witches' brew, and hallow-weenies, will be sold for goblin!
